The main reason these should be avoided is that the government has absolutely no control over them, meaning that most of these organizations are laden with corruption and deception. 527 GroupsĪ 527 group is a type of organization that raises money for political purposes. It’s not entirely clear where the rest of the money goes, but it’s pretty obvious that it is not being used to help veterans. That’s more than can be said about the National Veteran’s Service Fund, whose only IRS donation is a small amount given to a health clinic specializing in birth defects. Most of the charities on this list are pretty bad about using their money to actually help people, but they at least do actually donate money. Locating missing children and preventing childhood abuse are noble goals, but with a lack of funding transparency and a score of 32 on Charity Navigator, this organization is most definitely not a good use of money. As we stated earlier, these 50 charities account for almost 1 Billion in donations. This charity, meant to help promote childhood development and education, puts only 1% of its income towards direct cash aid towards these goals, making it one of the worst on the list in that aspect. The Tampa Bay Times and The Center for Investigative Reporting broke the charities up into five main categories: children, cancer, police/law enforcement, veterans, fire and other. Virtually none of the money raised through InfoCision actually goes towards helping cancer patients, making a donation through this medium almost a complete waste, especially considering all of the more trustworthy cancer charities out there. The American Cancer Society in and of itself may not be a bad charity, but the telemarketers they use through InfoCision, an Ohio-based marketing company certainly hurt the reputation of the organization. This may not be the worst charity to donate to, but there are far better options out there. The main problem being the lack of income transparency as well as the safety issues at the park. This is an Ohio based wildlife conservation organization, and while on a normal visit, it may seem like a good program, it is rated very low by CharityNavigator for a multitude of reasons. It is important to note that some of the other branches, including the one in Ohio, are much more reputable and trustworthy. Project Cure is a charity claiming to raise awareness about some of the biggest diseases of the day, but the Florida branch of the organization is well-known for using almost none of its money to actually achieve this goal. Of course, this isn’t very accurate since only about 2.5% of their income goes towards this goal. This charity is designed to serve as a knock-off Make A Wish Foundation (an actually good charity) and claims to help sick children. ![]()

![]() I’m making a four tiered wedding cake next weekend that is supposed to have caramel drip on every tier, and my practice cakes are not going according to plan. However, I am really struggling with the drip. I love this recipe and have had great success with it on its own and in making your salted caramel buttercream. ![]() Here’s a quick video of the process before you read all about it below: Whether you gift it, whip it up into buttercream, drizzle your desserts, or dip your apples in it, this salted caramel is sure to please and easy as can be! Just the way I like it. Here’s how this salted caramel recipe looks as a drip: Just make sure your buttercream cake is chilled and the salted caramel is room temperature before attempting this (aka follow these tips on creating drip cakes) and you’ll be good to go. To add to it’s versatility, you can even use this salted caramel recipe to drip cakes! I’ve used it plenty of times to create a gooey caramel drip effect. It reheats just fine in the microwave if you’re a make-ahead type of baker and makes a great gift if you’re looking for some yummy DIY’s for the holidays. After you make it, you can leave it out on the counter to cool before using it in a recipe (like this tasty salted caramel buttercream) or put it in an airtight container to store in the fridge for up to two weeks. Trust me on this one.įrom start to finish, this salted caramel recipe only takes about fifteen minutes. When certain ingredients are added (butter and heavy whipping cream specifically), the salted caramel will bubble rapidly and send all the steam toward your whisking hand. That’ll keep you cool, calm, and collected throughout the entire process.Īnother good tip is to have an oven mit or glove handy so you don’t burn your hand while whisking. We all know that caramel likes to burn when you stop stirring even for a few seconds (it’s sneaky like that!), so it’s always good to keep those pre-measured ingredients and recipe instructions close by. One of the keys to success with this recipe is to have your ingredients already pre-measured, room temperature, and ready to go, because you’ll constantly be stirring and whisking. I have been known to eat it by the spoonful! While I’ve tried my hand at some more intricate salted caramel recipes before, this one is my favorite for a few reasons: there are only four ingredients involved, it turns out the same every single time, and it’s the perfect amount of sweet and salty. ![]() If you’ve ever struggled with salted caramel before, I hope this one becomes your fail-proof friend. I’ve used it to drip cakes, drizzle cupcakes, coat apples, top ice cream, and have even whipped it up into salted caramel buttercream! It’s one of my forever go-to’s that has never let me down. When it comes to salted caramel, this recipe is as versatile as can be. ![]() ![]() ![]() Two betas were held for the game one for the multiplayer in August and one for Blackout in September. A post-hoc analysis of the PIVOT trial comparing vitrectomy and pneumatic retinopexy for the treatment of retinal detachment examined postoperative outer retinal folds on OCT. 3 Other OCT findings confirmed what’s been described in past histological analyses, including coagulative necrosis and retinal splitting after laser retinopexy, as well as retinal layer destruction and RPE separation post-cryopexy. 3 OCT findings post-cryopexy revealed separation of the choroid and sclera in the first week, a previously undescribed finding. Toronto’s Wei Wei Lee, MD, and colleagues presented longitudinal findings captured by the Optos Silverstone that provided insight into the response of the retina to treatments including laser retinopexy and cryopexy. UWF-OCT, however, acquires crucial information both before and after retinal detachment treatment. Microstructural retinal details such as photoreceptor integrity and resolution of subretinal fluid are difficult to ascertain on clinical exam or UWF fundus photography. There’s potential for the use of UWF-OCT in the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of retinal detachments. 2Īs mentioned, in the following sections we’ll look at the utility of WF and UWF in various conditions. A company called Toward Pi has also developed a swept-source OCT machine with an 81 x 68 degree field of view and an A-scan speed of 400 kHz. However, the Heidelberg Spectralis HRA-OCT (Heidelberg Engineering USA) (using a steering technique), the Silverstone (Optos PLC Edinburgh), the Plex Elite 9000 (Zeiss, Oberkochen, Germany) and the Xephilio OCT-S1 (Canon Medical Systems, Japan) have introduced UWF capabilities. Until recently, capturing the far periphery of the retina with OCT was nearly impossible. A depiction of these definitions appears in Figure 1. 1 This represents a 110 to 220-degree field of view. 1 It defined ultra-widefield imaging as an image of the far periphery of the retina, including the anterior edge of the vortex vein ampulla and beyond.
